Frequently asked questions

Practical answers about enquiries, sampling, timing, fees and reports.

How do I start?

Email clear photographs, dimensions, known condition issues and the question you want investigated. We will advise whether an initial appointment or further information is needed.

Can you identify an object from photographs alone?

Photographs may support preliminary screening, but they are not automatically sufficient for a material conclusion. Any limitation of a remote review will be stated.

Will sampling be required?

Some methods require a small sample; others can be non-destructive for a suitable object. The proposed location, approximate amount and visible impact are discussed before authorisation.

How is the price determined?

Fees depend on the object, method, sampling or transport needs, number of measurements and report scope. A written quotation is issued after review; the website does not display a universal price that could be misleading for a different case.

How long will the work take?

Timing is confirmed in the quotation and begins after the object or authorised sample is received in suitable condition. External measurement, complex preparation or additional client instructions can affect the schedule.

Does a report guarantee authenticity or value?

No. A report records the agreed observations, measurements and interpretation within stated limits. Attribution, legal title, provenance and valuation may require other qualified professionals and documentary evidence.

Can I send an object without an appointment?

No. Obtain a case reference, packing instructions and written delivery confirmation first. Unannounced deliveries may be refused for security and handling reasons.

Who can discuss my case?

We communicate with the person who submitted the enquiry and any representative they authorise in writing. Please avoid sending third-party personal information that is not needed for the work.
